Siberian sports stars about the World Cup in Barnaul: Sergey SHUBENKOV

Sergey SHUBENKOV, Olympic games participant, 2015 World champion in sprint hurdles

In my opinion, it will be easier to imagine how cool an event is waiting for us next year, if you remember how great it was on the canoeing canal in Barnaul two years ago during the Sprint Super Cup. I have no doubt that all those who managed to visit it during the two days of the competition kept only positive emotions. I was sincerely happy that the first experience of that international competition was held at a high level, and I even envied the fact that we, athletes, can only dream of something like this.

In fact, the World Cup stage has turned into a final qualifying step before the Olympics which increases both the level of competition and responsibility of the tournament organisers. I really want to believe that everything will be prepared at a high level. If I have an opportunity, I will definitely come to the canoeing canal to support the athletes. It would be highly advisable for those fans who are not yet particularly familiar with the nuances of canoeing to study the basic rules. In my opinion, watching canoeing as well as track and field athletics is much more fascinating if you know the sport. After all, Russian athletes are of great need to be supported by their fans next May!

The modern sports infrastructure is not the only legacy of this tournament. It will promote a golden opportunity for boys and girls in sports schools to reveal their potential and become great champions in the future.
